More Schooling Woes

Why does the government/ city/ state/ federal make it so hard to have kids??  Especially in the city.  Just when I think we have the schooling all sorted out, I realize that the school day ends at 2:30!!  TWO THIRTY!!!  Who is home at 2:30 to pick up the kids???  Not working parents. Because let’s face it, if you are living in New York City, both parents work. Or you are the rich minority.  So then you have to look at after school programs. And these ain’t cheap either.  I sometimes wished we lived in the suburbs where everything is predetermined. You have one school, and you go to that school.  Here you have the Catholic school, public schools, gifted & talented public schools, charter schools… and there are so many choices that sometimes it feels you have no choices.

We decided that we are going for the long shot and try to get her into the good public school that we are not zoned for. And see what happens!

If not, we found the Catholic school for us!

2:30?! What happened to the last half-hour? I totally empathize. Fingers and toes are crossed that you get your first pick.

Hope you get in where you want. What happened with gifted and talented? Still waiting to find out? Suburbs aren’t much better either, our school day is over by 2…the neighbours kid gets home at 2.30 and that’s after taking the school bus home. Can’t all schools be a mandatory 12hr day?
