Yes, I find myself in the same predicament as just about this time last year with Hurricane Irene. This year it’s Hurricane Sandy. And this time, it was FOUR full days of closeness. We had the weekend, and then MONDAY and TUESDAY! It could have been Wednesday as well, but thank goodness her school is open. I will not be making it to work, but I will have peace and quiet.
And today the unthinkable happened: On Demand was NOT working. It reached almost critic situation.
Tonight I am happy to announce that we have turned off the weather coverage and NY local station coverage of Sandy, that Maurice DuBois has been our constant companion for the last 48 hours (except the AM shift). Tonight, I’m looking forward to some prime time television. Maybe OnDemand will work again.
The situation got so desperate that we even pulled out Candyland, possibly the most hatred game ever for its duration. But this time, it’s duration was a welcomed break from alternating Toy Story and Toy Story 3 (on her portable DVD, but as a modern mom, at some point you have to realize that you need to pull the child away from the TV and be creative). We also played some Squirrel game. Colored some princesses. And today we attempted to build a paper castle from Pinterest board. We didn’t get very far… we just painted the empty toilet paper rolls and a inside out tissue box. The pieces have yet to be put together.
And tomorrow… FREEDOM!
