What a Difference a Year Makes

Last weekend we went to my friend’s house on the island. She has twin girls. We’ve gone to her house in the past. It’s always been nice to catch up with her, since usually it’s really hard to get us together.  What with three toddlers getting sick at any given time… However, even though both moms (I speak for her now too) have always enjoyed ourselves, it’s always been a little manic too.  Something was always happening, and not always in a good way. But finally, with mine almost 3-1/2, and hers almost 3, I have to admit, it was possibly one of the most enjoyable play dates.  The girls did their own thing. They even played together. Yes, there were tears, because what play date doesn’t have tears?  But they chased each other, they chased me, they jumped on Sam, and the cutest thing of all…. they played hide and go seek. Granted, it was possibly not the most challenging version of the game.  When you keep hiding in the same place over and over again, it’s not so hard. When you turn around to see where the other is hiding, not so hard. When counting is one, two, seventeen, here I come!  not so hard.  But it was cute!  The funniest was, that we couldn’t get the twins to hide in different places; they would always hide in the same location, until the very end, when they split up.

And the moms sat in the sun, because it was the most unbelievable day outside, and chatted, and gossiped with very little interruption.  We knew it was time to go, when the each of the girls in turn started stumbling for no reason at all. And the tears were inconsolable. Even though in the end, I had to drag O away.  But the pictures speak a thousand words of happiness!

Thanks for a great Sunday afternoon, Sam!
