Mommy Date Post Partum

The date almost didn’t happen.  With O’s temperature going up and down, I didn’t know if O would pull out so we can go.  But she did, and we did.  O’s best friend, Rose (not real name) and her mommy were super nice.  But Rose seemed to be coming down with the same thing that O was getting over. She was a little cranky.  Did I mention where we went?  We got tickets to the BAM Kids Film Festival.  The show was Best Friends, 12 short film about friends.

We had issues sharing the chair. Rose was standing, and O didn’t want to sit. Then Rose didn’t want to share her popcorn. Then O didn’t want to share her Barbies. Then this one did this. Then the other did that… so I guess O doesn’t need a sister. All we have to do is get together with Rose and her mommy, then they both get off their sister kick.

After the movies, we went to lunch. At first Rose was inconsolably crying. Both Mommies whip out their iPhones and prepare Dora.  Mommmmmmy!!!!!!!!! Rose is not sharing her Dorrrrrrrrrrrra! (WHINES!!!)  Mommmmmmmmmmmy!!!!!! O is not sharing HER Dorrrrrrrrra!!!!! (more whines!)

Rose relaxes, which is O’s que to start. So she starts crying.  The poor waitress brings us our food, and asks, Do you need anything else?  An adoption agency, please? I respond.  HA!! HA!!!

Finally, by some miracle, they both are in a good mood at the same time.  What does it you ask?  Why, wipes and asking them to clean the bench and table.  Hours and hours of entertainment.  This finally prompted the mommies to talk. Rose’s mom is really nice.  Until…. it comes out that she’s 28.  Seriously???  This is the 2nd mommy I met at the school who is 28 or 26. I feel old…. and…. old. But she is nice, so I forgive her young 28 years.

I think we will get the girls together again. Her mommy is really nice, and I look forward to getting know her and Rose better.
