I Miss You, Mommy!

O has randomly been saying this to me for the last month.  It took me a long time to figure out why she kept saying it. It’s not like she said when I walked through the door, or after she wakes up (to think that maybe the 9 hours of sleep were enough to be apart to miss  me). She would say it as we are cuddling on the couch. Or right before bedtime. Or right after a good play session in the park/ backyard.  Then I realized that for some reason she has associated “I love you” with “I miss you”.  I kept wondering where she got that from…it hit me. I guess when she is away from daycare on a mini vacation or even for the weekend, I bet you that when she comes back, they always say they missed her. And hence the connection that the word miss means love.

It’s really cute though. As we cuddle she grabs my face with her hands, I miss you, mommy! and gives me a great kiss. I usually respond with I miss you too, and Mommy loves you.

I do miss her!!
