Birthday Recap

O got lots of presents, and I was very nervous and concerned that she will open all of them at once, and then play with none. So much to the chagrin of the gift givers (and I do apologize), the whole gift opening lasted a bit over a week.  She opened one present in the morning and one in the afternoon.  I know annoying!  But… and this is a big B-U-T she played with each toy she got.  One night it was the stacking cups.  The next morning, the obsession to try to get me to put on Toy Story 3 DVD.  Me: No, O it’s time for day care.  Her: Cory (story), Mommy!  Play movie, okay?  Me: No. Her: Okay?  Me: No, we can watch it later. Her: Later?  Play movie? Say Okay, okay?  Me: (I laugh) No. We are not playing movie. Her: Mommy, say okay, Okay??  Circular conversation….

Then the next day was this tiny baby with a baby blanket attached.  The baby was one of the chosen toys to take to DC.  The baby was very bad on the train. She went caca a lot, and required the changing pad, countless wipes, and a diaper. I was asked to smell the baby’s butt several times.

The puzzle with matching colors and textures. She doesn’t understand about putting the two pieces together, but she is really good at identifying the images. Some of them I am amazed that she actually knows the names of.

Then the books…. she loves looking at her new books, and “reading” them herself. Letting me read them, slightly problematic.  We stick to the same books in rotation.  Again. And again….and again.  I am really trying to sneak new ones in.  But each time, it leads to tears.

Oh yeah, and she got a new tutu, which has been worn over jeans around the house and at day care, and she got a pair of skinny jeans.  That’s right!! Her diaper-clad butt is totally emphasized and her big feet are accentuated! But super cute!

I think overall this idea has really worked out well, and I hope that we can make it last a little longer than this year.  Annoying for others, yes…
