The Things We Rejoice In

Finally O’s sleeping pattern is getting better.  My 25-year-old cousin visiting from far off country, she was here on one of those summer work abroad programs.  Anyway, she was in New York, and she was going to stay with us. She asks, So, O goes to bed at 7, right?  Then are you planning on going out or something??  I was stunned by this question. Going out after O goes to sleep??  What??  I sit my still fat butt on the couch and watch TV.  She stayed in the city that night with some friends, and didn’t go to sleep until 6 am.  Ah… to be young again!

These are some of the things that make a married couple with a toddler happy.

2-1/2 hours of pure quiet bliss as O is watching a video.

Sales at Whole Foods.

New seasons of Survivor, Project Runway, The Good Wife, Parenthood

And by far, the most exciting news? Today DH picks me with O from daycare, DH: Guess what happens on October 29??  Me: I don’t know, what? Wait, the Stop N Shop is opening up!  DH: That’s right!!

Explanation:  We have a pretty ghetto Stop N Shop in the neighborhood.  It’s dark, depressing, and very dingy.  A few weeks ago, the shut it down. DH was very nervous what was going to happen. There was a lot of action going on each day as he drove by it. But not knowing, the uncertainty was driving him CRAZY!  Well, today, there was a big sign outside, Grand Reopening!  DH is ecstatic.

And although most people pray not to get Starbucks in their neighborhood, DH keeps hoping one will open soon to bring property values up. After all, as soon as a Starbucks moves in, the yuppies and hipsters follow.  Think Williamsburg and Greenpoint.
