Auntie Visiting

Sorry for the absence of updates.  O’s Auntie is visiting from far away lands, and we have been super busy spending time together.  I will have to get Auntie to post her own observations of the naughtiness that is O.  We have definitely tried to keep her (meaning both Auntie and O) entertained.  A few observations are that O LOVES, I mean LOVES the subway.  Every time the doors would open and close she would clap.  She was super cute and very flirty on the subway….. I mean teenagers would pass by us and comment how cute she is.  On the subway she would smile and say hi and bye to everyone.  I had to tell her to stop being so cute and that not everyone wants to be talked to.  She offered crackers to random people on the subway.

But don’t get me wrong, there were the two meltdowns on the Highline, from which I had to remove her promptly, and I ended up going on the subway during rush hour with a cranky baby.  The saving grace was that there was another baby in car, which was much louder and crankier than O.  So by default my baby was much better behaved.

About her relationship with her Auntie. At first, I think she might have been thrown off that her Auntie was not on a computer screen (we video conference every weekend).  She viewed her quite suspiciously the first few days.  But now, she shares her crackers (I guess that’s not really saying much since she offered strangers crackers).  Auntie needs to be sitting down, laying down, drinking coffee on cue, playing, drawing, etc. based on O’s particular needs at that time.  So that is a definite acceptance of Auntie in the family dynamic of bossing her parents around.

More details to come soon!
