Nose Congestion

The next few lines will either lead you to believe that I am a pretty awful mother or you can learn for my mistakes.

Did you know that an untreated nose congestion can lead to ear infection??  I didn’t either, but now you know.  O has had a sniffley nose for about 3 weeks. But we both assumed that it was just something she was going through, but it would go away. All the kids at day care had runny noses.  She didn’t have a fever, so we thought no big deal.  That is until she got a temperature, and she became cranky.  And of course, we tried taking her temperature in the ear.  She kept squirming, and crying.  It turns that was the ear that had the infection.

Now she is on peppermint tasting antibiotics.  For two weeks.  She is also on probiotics for four weeks.  I didn’t know but the antibiotics kill all bacteria including the good bacteria.  So the probiotics adds the good bacteria back in, otherwise she gets the infection again… and the circle continues.
