I think I’ve mentioned O’s BFF‘s Rose. Well, apparently they are going strong with their friendship. This week, we had the parent-teacher conference with her teachers at school. And we found out that she now loves circle time, whereas previously she did not listen or sit stil. Now, apparently, she wants to run circle time along with the teachers. Cute, and an odd reminder of myself a child (I used to play teacher with my sister and O’s godmother, and let me tell I didn’t take any shit from those two…)
By the way, in case you were wondering, since i was wondering, what do they do at circle time. I finally found out. They sing the good morning song, then they go over what day of the week it is, what month, what season. They go over the colors, letter of the week, the number of the week, the shape, and any topic they are learning that week. And yes, they all sit in a circle, Indian style, and they go over this every day.
In the afternoon, they have free play time. Apparently of all the sections they have, O’s favorite is the kitchen, and it’s weird because she has a kitchen at home. Still her and Rose are always to be found in the kitchen with a dollies, playing parent, cooking and talking on the phone. The teacher try to put them in separate sections, not together, but somehow, no matter where O is, she finds her way to the kitchen, and no matter where Rose is, she brings her into the kitchen.
But the funniest story is that a few weeks ago, the teachers were sitting talking to each other while the kids were playing, when suddenly, Rose comes running to the teacher crying and O following quickly behind.
Rose: O hit me!
O: I already said I was sorry!
Then they start talking over each other, O did this! Rose did that! Then just as suddenly as it all began, Rose bursts in tears, then O bursts in tears. They hug each other and walk away. The teachers were laughing so hard! The two worked out their problem on their own and back to being BFFs!
I do the same with my BFF even to this day–the hitting and biting hasn’t stopped even though we’re in our thirties. More women friends need to just duke it out, cry, and then hug and make up. O’s got it right. I hope she doesn’t grow out of it.
I think the last time I saw you, I think I hit you then hugged you, no??
