I don’t know what the deal is with me. I’ve uninspired, and really really busy at work. So it’s hard to focus and do other fun things.
We recently purchased a fake Christmas tree. I know… sacrilegious!! But it had to be done if we were going to have a tree. The heating system in our house makes everything so dry. Last year, we had to HACK the brittle tree in the house and then take it outside. It was horrible. The branches were so dry and brittle that it would have totally scratched our entire hallway walls. So this year, DH convinced me to buy a fake tree, pre-lit of course, and because the box was so big, we had to transported without the box. We were forced to put it together on Sunday night, the earliest I have ever put up a tree. Now if you’ve never had a fake tree, it is packaged really efficiently in the box, so when you take it out, it looks a little like the Charlie Brown tree: thing, scraggly and really sparse. Then you have to go through all the branches, one by one and spread out the needles. That took a whole hour to just make it full. And did I mention it’s pre-lit? So it looks AWESOME!!
O was very involved in this. Mommy, I want the Cistmas tree! Is Santa coming? I want Santa to come. When is Santa coming? And she wanted to help. She was under the tree, behind the tree, squeezed in tight where DH was trying to add the train. It was a mess. It took us so long to get the whole thing together, that we have not had time to decorate it.
I have to say, this year of all years, I am super excited about Christmas. It’s the first year that O will be aware of Santa and what it’s all about. And I remember how much fun I had as a kid at Christmas. We are spending Christmas at the in-laws way up north. The day care as well as me, are getting O really really worked up about Christmas. I mean she started with Santa Claus about a week and half before Thanksgiving. We explained that we are going to Oma’s house, and that is when Santa will come. Of course she doesn’t want to remember that we have to wait to go to Oma’s house. Then she started that she needs to make cookies for Santa. And we said sure, your cousins and you will make the cookies for Santa. Pease, Mommy! I want to make cookies, and then my cousin will paint my toenails. Oh, how she remembers that her cousin painted her toenails!
I am also not sure what to get O for Christmas. What are you getting your kids for Christmas?
pretty tree! those fake ones look so much more twinkley than the realsies….have you decided what to get her for christmas yet? the girls already have so much but have shown an interest in barbies and babies so are going to get them a crib and highchair for their babies and some barbies, I think someone is getting them a scooter although Im not sure how interested in that they will be. Oh and they are into fire engines so maybe they will get a flynn from thomas and friends for their trainset. Sounds like the girls will be spoilt – as usual.
The reason why I love the fake ones already… the lights are built in. I don’t have to fight to get the lights on or off! Amazing!
O has been asking for Barbies too. But she’s not interested in dressing them. Instead she wants to wash them. She can wash a lot of other toys. Instead we are getting her Polly Pocket. And a book, Dogs Don’t Do Ballet (a good book for the Scategorries game, 3 pts.) and some other stuff. We are making a pilgrimage to Target this weekend.
